Before consoles ended up becoming the dominant platform for video games, there was a time when PC gaming reigned supreme. Everything from fast-paced FPS titles to story-driven CRPGs have dominated this platform, allowing gamers to delight in some epic titles that are still considered fan favorites and classics to this day.

In fact, some of the classic titles released for PC were so brilliant that some would say greenlighting a sequel to those games would be a wise course of action, as most gamers would love a sequel to high-quality, nostalgic titles that deserve as much love and recognition as possible.

With that in mind, we've listed ten of the greatest PC classics that deserve a sequel.

Arcano: Of Steamworks E Magick Obscura

Since crowdsourcing and indie games took off, the CRPG genre has seen a certain resurgence with several games released in this genre that have continued the legacy of existing CRPGs or established new strongholds in the genre. In the case of the former, many renowned CRPG franchises have become relevant in modern times, except for one specific title.

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is an excellent title that deserves all the love it receives, developed by Troika Games, a household name for players of excellent RPG titles. It's a shame this franchise wasn't picked up for a sequel or remake in the modern era, as it definitely deserves one.

    Vampires: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Source: Official game page on Steam

Speaking of Troika Games, one cannot fail to mention one of its most popular and beloved titles, which was also one of the main causes of its downfall and closure as a studio.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a brilliant representation of what interesting and deep RPG titles can achieve. Though the experience is definitely marred by the game's final act which feels rushed and bland compared to this title's strong intro.

While Bloodlines 2 may have been announced, the news surrounding this sequel is not good, and we can only wait and see before this sequel lives up to the high expectations set by its predecessor.

    System Shock 2

Speaking of games in the immersive simulation genre, one cannot fail to mention a classic sci-fi horror title that truly deserves the title of being one of the greatest games worthy of being a classic.

Walking through the desolate and icy corridors of UNN Rickenbacker is a blast, and one can't wait to see how the remakes and sequels that have been announced for this series compare against this beloved classic.

    Dwarf Fortress

A genuine PC classic that still maintains the slogan of being a passionate title with an intriguing gameplay loop that has no end in sight, Dwarf Fortress is a special simulation title that is incredibly deep and complex, this being one of the main obstacles for new players who want to enter this title.

However, players who manage to understand the complex mechanics of this title will be rewarded with a rich and rewarding experience that is very worthy of a sequel that improves on every aspect of Dwarf Fortress' masterful gameplay cycle.

    Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

While Blizzard Entertainment's reputation may not be at its peak right now, there's no denying the glory years of this developer and the brilliant games that came along with it, like the brilliant Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.

It is the incredible quality of this RTS that has generated a massive reaction against the inferior remake of this title. So it's a given that a sequel to this brilliant title would break the internet in every way, although the story complications given developments in World of Warcraft can be difficult to incorporate.

    Grim Fandango

Point-and-click adventure titles were extremely popular during the golden age of PC gaming, with most games in this genre turning into full-fledged franchises in record time. However, there was one exception to the norm, called Grim Fandango.

The fact that the brilliant Tim Schafer designed this incredible title is indicative of the incredible quality of this title, which makes it quite strange that this title, like most of Schafer's works, has yet to receive a sequel to this day.

    Day of the Tentacle

Source: Official game page on Steam

Speaking of games that Tim Schafer has worked on, one can't help but mention the brilliance of Maniac Mansion 2, better known by its official moniker, Day of the Tentacle.

The quirk of LucasArts' script and humor was on full display in this title, which certainly deserved a remake released in 2016. However, Day of the Tentacle turned out to be the last installment in the Maniac Mansion series, with no news of a sequel to this day. , a shame as this title definitely deserves one.

    Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

Source: Official game page on Origin's website

The Sid Meier's Civilization series is easily one of the most notable 4X strategy titles that have become a staple of PC gaming, but veterans of this series will remember this franchise's spiritual successor that depicted a sci-fi scenario that was incredibly fascinating.

It's a shame that Alpha Centauri is a standalone title to this day, as players would obviously like to see more of what this immersive universe would have to offer in a sequel.

    Age of Mythology

Source: Official game page on Steam

It would be impossible to talk about classic PC titles without mentioning the spinoff of the Age of Empires series, which was widely appreciated by many, Age of Mythology.

While this title's multiplayer is sublime in its own right, proper props must be given to this title's incredible single-player campaign, with the story of Arkantos being absolutely fascinating to play through from start to finish.

    It's a shame that such a successful spin-off never got a well-deserved sequel.

    Rise Of Nations

Source: Official game page on Steam

Speaking of RTS classics on PC, it would be hard not to give the brilliant and underrated Rise of Nations its due. The restricted nature of this title's gameplay, coupled with an interesting campaign, made for a game that was an absolute must for any fan of the RTS genre.

It goes without saying that any announcement of a sequel to this beloved title will be met with positive reception across all quarters.
