What is the best Lost Ark class

What is the best Lost Ark character class to play, and how in Arkesia isn't Deathblade?

What is the best character class to play in Lost Ark? When you first create a character in Lost Ark, you'll be tasked with choosing a class from a list of seven options, and you'll notice that classes in this game are gender-locked: Warriors are always male, while Assassins and Mages are always feminine.

We have male and female versions to choose from, but they are still separate in character creation as all subclasses in the game are available for only one gender.

In total, there are 15 subclasses in Lost Ark, with seven options for male characters and eight for female characters. Whichever base class you choose to play with, you'll be taken through a short tutorial, during which you'll be asked to choose a subclass for them to specialize in.

With two exceptions – the male Martial Artist and the female Gunner have only one subclass each – you will have two or three options for what your character specializes in, based on their class and gender. Below we will tell you which are the best classes in Lost Ark and which is the best subclass of them.

Lost Ark class level list

  • Tier S - A class that would easily be judged as a “meta” and that offers extremely useful (and powerful) tools
  • Tier A: A good class, balanced and suitable for most content
  • Tier B: A still interesting class, but with more disadvantages compared to the higher tier
  • Tier C: There is probably a similar option but considered better and more useful in the other tiers.

On this page, we'll talk a little more about each character class in detail, starting with our S-tier favorites and moving down the list.

Note that while each class and subclass is gender-locked, you can still customize each character's name and appearance, so while we refer to these classes as "he" or "she", you're not locked into a design. specific plus gender and armor options when you choose a class.

Animal S

Bard (magician)

There are only two support classes in Lost Ark at the time of writing, and while they might not seem like the most exciting choices when you're starting out, you'll quickly realize how important it is to have at least one on your list as you get closer to the end. about the game.

If you want to team up with other players, having a high level Bard will be indispensable, as it is easily the most requested class when forming groups, thanks to it having the best healing and shields in the game.

Her only real downside is that she's not the best at playing an active role in combat, limiting her usefulness if you're playing alone in Arkesia; though his harp brings a full set of damage buffs and debuffs that benefit your team in a fight.

Berserker (Warrior)

The Berserker might not be the most exotic choice, as he's Lost Ark's answer to the all-time RPG staple fighter. However, this is a classic build for a reason; and while the Berserker might be the safe choice for players who aren't quite as confident in their survival skills yet, it really does stand up to the game's challenges in the long run.

He can buff himself and his team with a 12% damage boost, and it doesn't take long to level him to a nearly unstoppable damage machine. A solid choice for beginners, it however won't let you down if you choose to keep it until the end.

Gunlancer (Warrior)

Players who consider themselves a little too experienced for the Berserker but still want the classic fighter experience will want to add a Gunlancer to their roster.

Undoubtedly, this is Lost Ark's tank class, with high HP and defense stats, making it a great damage sponge alongside the ability to protect other characters and draw the enemy's attention to yourself, and a power special that allows you to interrupt attacks or sometimes even bypass boss mechanics.

If your goal is to go through the Lost Ark like a hot knife through butter, the Gunlancer is definitely your man (and that's without even getting into how cool his weaponry is for purely aesthetic reasons).

Gunslinger (Sniper – Female)

The Gunslinger is one of my personal favorites and is among the top picks in the game for a PvE DPS class. Her ridiculously fast movement speed and increased 10% critical buff mean she's a robust option if you're playing solo.

And if you're enjoying the MMO aspects of this MMORPG and playing with friends, happy days! Your critical buff benefits the entire party. The only real downside to Gunslinger is that it can be tricky to understand early in the game, but once you keep an eye out, you will more than feel the payoff as you progress through later sections.

Paladin (Warrior)

Support classes are relatively scarce in Lost Ark and become increasingly vital as you get closer to the endgame; so the Paladin, like the Bard, gets points at S rank almost by default, and it's really a contest over which is the better choice.

On the Paladin's side, he's not in the Bard league when it comes to healing and protecting his teammates, but he's better able to take an active role in combat thanks to his base Warrior class, which gives him access to attack stats. and higher defense. In other words, it is the best choice if you want to play a mixed sub-DPS/support role.

Tier A

Artillery (Sniper — Male)

The Artillery is something of a handyman, and while he's not a master of any, that's not to say he's not very capable in every area he chooses to dive into. The Gunlancer is a better tank, the Bard offers better shield support, and there are other heavy damage dealers in the game whose movement speed isn't as overloaded.

But the Artillerist plays all three roles very well, so if you're looking for discrete multiclassing as a character that can switch between DPS and support as needed, you'll definitely want a member of that subclass on your roster.

Deathblade (Assassin)

My first Lost Ark character was a Deathblade, and it's not hard to see why this is a popular choice for newcomers: a Deathblade looks incredibly cool wielding three swords while somehow managing not to cut its own hands during the dizzying whirlwind. of your attacks.

I stand by my contention that the Deathblade is a great starting character, and on top of that, it's one of the most fun classes to play.

However, as you progress through the game and your roster and the challenges they face start to level up, it's a sad truth that Deathblade can't keep up. Its overall damage output at higher levels is much lower than you'd expect, and other classes start to make more sense if you're focused on progressing through the difficult sections of Lost Ark in the most efficient way.

Sorcerer (Mage)

The Enchantress is one of the most recent additions to the South Korean version of Lost Ark ahead of the EU/NA release, so it remains to be seen if she will receive further tweaks in the future. For now, she's a solid addition to a combat-oriented team, thanks to her decent damage bonus (6%) and incredibly high blast radius.

I've also seen it suggested that she's a particularly easy character to pick up for players who are more familiar with Western RPGs, which might explain the timing of her introduction.

However, she is an example of the infamous squishy sorcerer, with low defenses and HP, which means she is not always the easiest character to manage in a fight, and so it will take a more skilled player to get the one. her best performance.

Striker (Martial Artist — Male)

Two words: air strikes. The Striker has such high movement speed that he can literally attack enemies from almost any angle, and he looks pretty cool doing it too. He is one of the most difficult classes to control, thanks to the key role his positioning plays in landing a good attack.

But he has a high damage output and higher crit chance, so there's room for forgiveness while you're still learning the ropes, especially since his crit chance and attack speed boosts also apply to his teammates.

Tier B

Scrapper (Martial Artist — Female)

The Scrapper is an extremely beginner-friendly subclass if you want to experience melee combat in Lost Ark. She has strong defense, combined with mid-way damage (including an extra 6% damage bonus), so while you may have to fight for a while, you're unlikely to come to an untimely end while doing so.

However, the Scrapper is generally considered more of a training class, with players who find their combat style to their liking tending to switch to a Striker character if they decide they want to be a Martial Artist for the long term.

Shadowhunter (Assassin)

It might be my undeniable bias towards Deathblade speaking, but I think Shadowhunter is a little more boring to play than a demon-possessed assassin has a right to be.

Her best feature is her 12% additional damage bonus, which is compatible with that of the Berserker, and in many ways she can be seen as her female counterpart, as she is also a pretty straightforward starting character.

I don't want to suggest that there's anything actively wrong with the Shadowhunter, but while her kit is perfectly useful, it doesn't do much for me. Its most interesting attribute is its ability to shift into demonic form for a temporary boost to your HP and speed, but even then, the drop can leave you wishing you had chosen a class with better base stats in these areas.

Sniper (Gunner — male)

A sniper character might feel a little out of place in a fantasy saga, but that's essentially what the Sharpshooter is. The only purely ranged character class in Lost Ark, the Sharpshooter has a high damage output, strong scaling ability, and adds a 6% damage boost buff to the entire team. On stats alone, he would probably deserve a spot in our A-tier were it not for the fact that his entire kit is built to keep his distance from the fray. This means you won't experience many of Lost Ark's core combat mechanics, as there's very little it can do in close combat; so unless this is specifically something that appeals to you, you might want to choose a Gunner with a little more versatility, like the Gunslinger or Artillerist.

Soulfist (Martial Artist – Female)

Soulfist's entire kit revolves around his undeniably exceptional ultimate, a burst attack with truly massive damage potential. However, it's hard to place her anywhere above level B when none of her other skills can really match. Also, there's an element of randomness to his ultimate, as it takes several seconds to charge before deploying, and its full potential depends on landing crits while it's active. Soulfist is incredibly fun to play nonetheless, and if you want to play a fast-paced Martial Artist free from heavy armor the way it was intended, then she's an unbeatable choice.

Tier C

Deadeye (Sniper — Male)

Lost Ark usually manages to blend its high fantasy setting with sci-fi elements perfectly, but when it comes to Deadeye, you can't help but feel like he made a mistake bringing his hand cannon into a big sword fight. To be brutally honest, the Deadeye does everything the Gunslinger does – wielding three different weapons for various occasions, all with a 10% critical buff – but it does everything a little worse. This can be the most complicated class to get mechanically familiar with, and even after becoming an expert judge of its required range and placement, its damage, HP, and defense just don't compare to its nominal female counterpart.

Wardancer (Martial Artist – Female)

Wardancer is not without its merits, but it finds itself in the awkward position of not being very well suited for support or DPS roles when placed on a team.

Her buffs are excellent, increasing her teammates' attack speed and crit chance, but there's very little she can actively do in combat that isn't much better handled by another class.

She does very low damage, meaning she can't sub-DPS very effectively, but her lack of healing or shielding powers means she can't be employed in a proper support role either.

To add insult to injury, her buffs have a long cooldown period, which means she can often get frustrated while the rest of the team enjoys a fast-paced battle.
