ASSASSIN'S CREED SAYS IT WILL NO LONGER RELEASE 3-4 AAA GAMES EVERY YEAR
A Ubisoft is changing its traditional strategy of releasing 3-4 premium titles AAA each year, but plans to release “high-end free-to-play” games for all of its biggest franchises.
The company provided an update on its product development strategy during its full-year earnings call on Tuesday, in which it said it intends to be less reliant on AAA releases as part of its overall product mix.
“In line with the evolution of our increasingly diverse high-quality lineup, we are moving from our previous comment to releasing 3-4 premium AAAs per year,” said Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet.
“In fact, it is no longer an adequate indication of our value creation dynamics. For example, our expectation for Just Dance e Riders republic are consistent with some of the AAA artists in the industry.
“Furthermore, we are building high-tech free-to-play games to be a trend towards AAA ambitions in the long term,” he added.
"This is purely an evolution of financial communication and doesn't change the fact that we continue to expect a high cadence of content delivery, including new premium and free releases."
Last week, the Ubisoft announced plans to expand the division with new free and mobile games.
The Division : Heartland, Tom Clancy, is being led by Red Storm Entertainment and is described as a standalone experience set for release on PlayStation , Xbox e PC . No details were revealed in the separate mobile game.Read also

"In terms of Heartland, the way we think about building audience reach growth for our biggest franchises, so starting with The Division, is to come up with high quality free games,” he said. Duguet on Tuesday's earnings call.
“We recognize that this is the first year that we are significantly entering space. That's why we need to make reasonable assumptions for the first year on the top line as well as the contribution, but of course we want to make sure this is a strong long-term contributor to the overall brand expansion on console and PC and, of course, will come mobile later. ”
Duguet elaborated on the new direction: “We think we have a great opportunity to significantly expand the audience for our biggest franchises.
“We took the time to learn from what we did last year with the Hyper scape . We are also learning, of course, from the release of Roller Champions and we have learned a lot from the Brawlhalla, which is growing rapidly.
“And we think now is the time to come up with high quality free games across all of our biggest franchises on all platforms, but of course it's going to take some time before we can prove that in a more assertive way. That's why we want to be cautious in the first year. If we are successful, this could have a very significant impact on Ubisoft's value creation. ”
The editor said Tuesday that the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2022 will include the Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine releases until September 30 , And Riders republic, The division heartland e Roller Champions.
It confirmed during its earnings call that it has no AAA games scheduled for release during the second half of the fiscal year, which includes the Christmas season.
The open world pirate game Skull & Bones was planned for release during the current fiscal year, but Ubisoft said on Tuesday that it has been delayed yet again. The game is now scheduled for release during its next fiscal year, starting in April 2022.
A Ubisoft also said that the franchise Assassin's Creed recorded its strongest sales of the year so far, not the last fiscal year of the company.
“What do we see with Assassin's Creed is that we have a fantastic revenue and that's why we decided to expand the [Valhalla] post-launch program to make it the biggest, longest and strongest we've ever had in the franchise," said Duguet. .
