Let's be honest, every time we turn our heads, there's a game, another "Metroidvania" game that's coming out on PC. The platform is so full of them that it's hard to see the gems in the crowd. With that in mind, let us help make it easier by showing you the top 5 Metroidvania games available for PC. This ranges from older titles to a relatively new game that I think you'll enjoy. Without further ado, let's get to our list.

    Ori: The Collection

    Developer: Moon Studios
    Publisher: Xbox Game Studios

ORI: The Collection is a collection of two of the best Action/RPG/Metroidvania games out there. Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Both games are epic adventures, full of action, incredible stories and some of the best music ever created for a video game. It's relaxing, but sometimes it can be a very tough game. If you are a fan of these genres, you shouldn't even question the choice of this collection, just buy and enjoy.

    Axiom Verge

    Developer: Thomas Happ Games
    Publisher: Thomas Happ Games

And to think that Axiom Verge was created because Nintendo wasn't going to release another Metroid game, and the game is much more than that. You play as a scientist who seemingly dies but awakens in an ancient, high-tech world. The game even looks like the original Metroid game, with better gameplay, lots of weapons to choose from, a huge world to explore, and there's even a decent story to follow. This game was designed and developed by one person, Tom Happ. The same person who worked on several AAA games and was responsible for bringing a number of indie titles to Nintendo platforms over the past few years. Play Axiom Verge now, while we wait for Tom Happ to finish the sequel, Axiom Verge 2.

While it looked like Iconoclasts would be in development forever, it was certainly worth the wait. Iconoclasts is an independent, open-world 2D platformer, with RPG elements sprinkled throughout. Although it sounds like a cute game, it couldn't be further from the truth that underneath all the charm is a frenetic platformer, full of puzzles, a huge world and bosses that can make you throw your controller (or keyboard) through the air. .

If you are a Mega Man fan, Iconoclasts might be a great game for you.

    Hollow Knight

    Developer: Team Cherry
    Publisher: Team Cherry

Team Cherry set the world on fire when they released Hollow Knight. An enjoyable, fun and sometimes complex platform RPG, Hollow Knight will push you to the limit with an insane amount of action, challenging boss fights and charm. This is one of the most beautiful indie games ever created, all thanks to the hand-drawn style. If that wasn't enough, four different DLC expansions are available for the game; Godmaster, Lifeblood, The Grimm Troupe and Hidden Dreams. There is another one that is currently in development, called Silksong. You may have heard of it, and it's kind of a big deal, but so far, Team Cherry has been pretty quiet when we can expect to see it.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights

    Developers: Adglobe, Live Wire
    Publisher: Binary Haze Interactive

This game is scary compared to Metroidvania games, but it's still a fantastic move. You play as a girl named Lily, who wakes up in a room, all alone. While they were all cursed and are now undead, much to Lily's horror. And while it seems impossible, Lily is not helpless as a protective spirit comes to her aid and accompanies her on a mission. Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights takes a huge number of clues from other Metroidvania games and along with some darker themes than you're used to, but the end result is a long, engaging game that you might not want to put down.
