During a recent Sonic Central broadcast, Sega confirmed a rumor that had been surfacing for some time. Sonic Colors, which was released for the Nintendo Wii in 2010, is being released for PC as Sonic Colors: Ultimate. The game goes to PC via the Epic Games Store on September 7. Following the reveal, Sega also revealed an animated show based on the game: Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps. Sega also ended the presentation by announcing a new Sonic game that will arrive in 2022.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a remaster of the Wii game. Rumors about its existence have been around since early April, when a German voiceover studio mentioned that it was working on a "Sonic Colors Remastered". A French dealer later quoted the game, revealing that it was coming to consoles. The PC, however, was not mentioned at the time. But, fortunately, that will not be the case. Sonic Colors: Ultimate is heading to console and PC later in the year. Hopefully, for the latter, we'll see some graphical options.

Following the reveal of the game, Sonic Central brought in a special guest star. Roger Craig Smith, who voiced Sonic for about a decade, popped in to chat about Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps. The two-part animation is, of course, based on the Sonic Colors universe, starring Sonic and Tails in a brand new adventure.

It will also include the "full dialogue of Sonic's voice cast," Smith said. The reveal comes a day after Smith announced his return as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog. It remains unclear whether the voice of the cast includes some of the actors who left their roles earlier in the year. However, in the show's teaser, Tails' voice still appears to be Tails' longtime voice actress Colleen O'Shaughnessey.

Well, Sega ended the show with an announcement, and to no one's surprise, it was a brief teaser for a new Sonic game. No names have been announced, and nothing has been mentioned in a list of platforms, just a 2022 release window. It featured Sonic running through a forest and ending with a loop that turned into a bizarre set of symbols, which no doubt point towards the story game.

Sega also revealed Sonic Origins, another Sonic compilation to add to the ever-growing pile. However, Sonic Origins stands out a bit, as it will include Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles, which most builds seem to omit for some reason. It will also be available next year.
