After more than a month of closed beta testing, Riot Games' new free-to-play tactical shooter Valorant will launch on June 2, 2020, the company announced on Thursday, May 21, 2020. After the announced date, people “in most regions of the world” will be able to download the game for free from its website, Riot said in a press release.

Valorant's closed beta will end five days early on May 28, 2020. The entire game will be offline for maintenance as Riot prepares for launch. As for people who got a chance to play during the closed beta, all progress for each player will be reset when the game actually launches.
Along with the release date announcement, executive producer Anna Donlon and game director Joe Ziegler shared some of Riot's post-launch plans for Valorant. Among them are a new game mode, a new character and a new map. All of these elements are to be released “shortly after” the June 2 release.
“The team looks forward to kicking off our decades-long commitment to serving the global Valorant community,” said Donlon. “This is just the beginning of our journey together.”
Along with the new content, Riot plans to add Valorant servers in cities around the world, including Atlanta, Dallas, London, Madrid, and Warsaw, to give more players access to lower latency matches.
