Riot Games announced today, June 16, 2020, the creation of the “Ignition Series”, a multi-organizational event for Valorant that will see individual tournaments being held all over the world. More than 20 esports organizations will create various tournament formats for the 5v5 class-based competitive shooter.
The Ignition Series kicks off June 19 with the European G2 Esports Invitational, presented by Red Bull and the RAGE VALORANT JAPAN Invitational. There will be more Ignition series events produced in North America, Spain, Latin America, Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, Oceania, Europe, Russia, Turkey and the Middle East. Riot will release more details about upcoming events in the coming days.
Each organizer will be able to operate their own Ignition Series tournament, with their own variations, including competitive open qualifiers, show matches and invites with players of their choice. This could mean that established personalities, aspiring amateurs, or anyone the organization chooses can be invited to compete.
Riot Games is looking to leverage the ValorantT ecosystem to allow regions to “develop a competitive legacy”. According to the release, the Ignition Series will "feature a select number of tournaments" to help discover talented players and "build global recognition".Read also
