A Ubisoft revealed new dates for the Six Invitationals 2021, previously postponed, the premier esports event Rainbow Six Siege

The tournament, which is due to be held offline in Paris, France, was originally scheduled for February but was canceled just days earlier due to an increase in the French government's coronavirus restrictions.

Ubisoft has now rescheduled the competition to May and plans to host the event on LAN with all 20 qualified teams.

The developer confirms that on April 8 it was “authorized by the government and local authorities to hold the Six Invitational 2021 in Paris, France from 11 to 23 May”. However, the tournament will be played without a live audience.

In a statement, Ubisoft expresses concerns about current travel restrictions between France and Spain, one of the biggest producers of Siege talent and home to six of the teams qualified for the Six Invitational.

“We are evaluating all possible options to ensure that FaZe Clan, MIBR, Ninjas in Pajamas, Team Liquid, Team oNe eSports and FURIA Esports can compete in the Six Invitational against teams from other regions,” the statement reads.

“While we still need a little more time to review all the options and their specifics, we appreciate your continued support and patience.”

In addition to waiting for the ban on travel between France and Spain to be lifted, Ubisoft may consider quarantining teams in a neighboring European country before moving them to Paris, although this is purely speculation at this point.

Ubisoft closes by saying that it is working hard to bring fans “the best Six Invitationals possible”, despite the current global situation.

Questions have been raised over the decision to host the tournament in France, which throughout the pandemic has seen the highest number of coronavirus cases of any European nation (over 5,2 million according to the World Health Organization).
