However, many coaches often overlook the full picture when it comes to type effectiveness. This is particularly true when Niantic add new creatures to Pokémon Go.

Pokemon Go battle definitions
Before checking out the Pokémon Go strength and weakness type chart below, make sure you are aware of the following definitions:
- Forces: What type of Pokémon an X-type attack is strong against, i.e. Electric against Water.
- Weaknesses: What type of Pokémon an X-type attack is weak, i.e. grass versus fire.
- Resistances: Which types will take less damage from what, i.e. dragon vs fairy.
- Vulnerabilities: which types take more damage than, ie, steel versus ice.

Interestingly, Niantic chose not to include type immunities in the Pokémon Go. For example, in mainline games, ghost types are immune to normal type attacks, this is not the case in Pokemon Go.

Pokémon Go-type effectiveness multiplier
The effectiveness of a Pokémon's movement depends entirely on the game itself. Type advantages in Pokémon Sword and Shield are generally more pronounced, with effective attacks being twice as strong.

- Superfication against two types: 2,56x
- Attacks supereficazes : 1,6x
- Not very effective attacks: 0,625x
- It is not very effective against two types: 0,391x

Another difference between Pokémon Go and other games is that various typifications further affect damage. If a species is weak to two of an opponent's types, the multiplier effect would be halved again, as seen by the 0,391 multipliers.
The same applies to a Pokémon being effective against both types of species. An example of this is an electric type versus Gyarados as it is dual water and flying type, two types that are weak against electricity.
Take the time to learn which Pokémon are strong and weak against other types can often give you the edge you need to swing even the toughest fights in your favor.
