Smeargle is not a Pok√©mon GO normal, which means you won't find them roaming the world, waiting to be captured.

Since this Pokemon is unconventional, we decided to create a small guide to help you catch Smeargle in Pok√©mon GO to help complete your collection. I recently picked one up, just in time for the Johto Collection Challenge.

In Pok√©mon GO Smeargle is a generation 2 Pok√©mon from the Johto regen. He is a Normal-type painter who looks a lot like a small artist, which is why Smeargle is known as the "Pok√©mon Painter".

In the main games, Smeargle has a unique move called "sketch" that allows you to permanently copy an attack used by your opponent. Likewise, in Pokémon GO, Smeargle will have the same moves as the Pokémon you are taking out when it appears.

When it comes to catching a Smeargle in-game, you need to start taking pictures of your Pokemon. Clicking on any Pok√©mon in your bag will open its page.

On this page, there is a small image of the camera on the upper right side. You can click here to bring Pokémon to the world. You'll need AR enabled and move your camera around the area, waiting for bright spots to appear.

Once you see these dots, you can tap to position your Pokemon. From there, you can start taking pictures. You'll need to wait until you're done and tap the arrow in the top left corner of the screen to exit.

The next screen will show all your photos, you will want to scroll through them looking for a Smeargle, which will not be hidden in the image, instead this Pokemon will appear over a large part of the screen, photobombing it! You can tap the Smeargle photo and then exit the screen.

Smeargle should then appear in the world, like a normal Pokemon, waiting for you to touch it and capture it!
