When the trailer of Palworld starts, he looks a lot like a Pokémon 3D sophisticated. This lasts for nine seconds, until you see someone dangling from their pokemon bird friend's claws while firing bullets from an assault rifle.
So you are seeing Pals being made to work in the field, then in a factory exploring new rifles. Then someone takes their shy comrade to use him as a shield in a firefight. So... it's a trailer of never-ending surprises, a must-watch wonder.
Developers Pocketpair describe Palworld as a multiplayer “open world survival crafting game”.
You know the score: explore, build, fight, craft, and so on. To help you with your tasks, you can recruit Pals, large creatures that are just Pokémon. But while Pokémon often work alongside their human friends, Palworld sounds like a cruel extrapolated endpoint of treating Pokemon like tools.
while in Pokémon, I will use electric monsters to help me fight creatures I catch while fishing, in Palworld you can throw Electric Pals into the water like a toaster. And while Pokemon often mentions poachers, here you can not only hunt Pals, you can also kill and eat them (although apparently that's illegal?).

However, the Steam page clarifies that Pals are not protected by labor laws, which is certainly something. And if you put them in their factories, the developers will say, “They will work forever as long as they are fed to the end of their lifespan.” Oh no.
Pocketpair also did craftopia, a game whose trailer looked like Breath Of The Wild until you saw Pokémon, a WW1 biplane, and conveyor belts dumping whole live cows into a giant pot. Although our Ed really enjoyed playing craftopia , Who knows, Palworld can also have a strange charm.
Watching the Craftopia trailer again, I'm delighted to see how both are totally unpredictable, yet seem to follow similar beats. Just a treat to watch. Video games are amazing.
Palworld is coming to Steam in 2022.
Like craftopia is still in early access, the developers addressed concerns about what the announcement of Palworld means for the previous game.
They say they have expanded their development team and are continuing to work on it, and recently plotted a roadmap for future additions and updates. I think I would have been suspicious if I had bought Craftopia.
