Nintendo Switch is now the sixth best-selling console in Japan and is set to overtake the PSP
It's been a crazy journey to the Nintendo Switch. Since launching in March 2017, it has managed to wash away the bad taste of Wii U from everyone's lips and innovate in the gameplay of Wii with game-changing motion sensor.
Equally, however, it has been a mess. That dreaded wave of joy doesn't go away, and Nintendo has faced multiple class-action lawsuits over the hardware issue.
And yet, somehow, it didn't clip its wings. Still going strong, the Switch overtook the Famicom to become the sixth best-selling console in Japan, and is expected to overtake the PSP in fifth place in just a few months.

As reported by NintendoLife, the Switch has already sold 19.410.000 units in Japan. And it's not looking bad around the world either, as of December 2020, the popular hybrid console had changed a total of 79,87 units.
Even better news for the Nintendo, the Twitter account of Video Game Charts predicts (using data from Japanese gaming news channel Famitsu) that this growth will only continue given the release of remakes of Pokémon 4th generation later this year, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus Next year.
Because of this, video game charts claim that the Switch can overtake the PlayStation 2 in November, and maybe the 3DS next year. As of now, the DS is still almost at the top, nearly two decades since its release.
