During the final day of Netflix Geeked Week, Far Cry fans had a lot to look forward to.

Netflix and Ubisoft Film & Television are expanding their relationship as the streaming service has ordered a Far Cry anime series as well as a more mature anime series titled Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. The announcement was made during Geeked Week, a fan-focused virtual Netflix event that reveals first looks at content to come.

There's no indication yet whether the just-announced Far Cry anime will be an adaptation of the games or, like the games, a distinct excursion revisiting its enduring themes of overthrowing unjust power with a people's rebellion.

Captain Laserhawk was previously announced as in development in 2019, but did not have an initial network or streaming service until this announcement. Adi Shankar, who is the creator and executive producer of Laserhawk, described his series as "think Captain N: The Game Masters, but good."

The creative teams for these series are still being assembled, but Hélène Juguet of Ubisoft - who will be producing them - said that "adult animation is one of the most powerful ways to pay homage to the gaming culture and community... it's really inspiring to... our worlds for Netflix. "

Things in the Far Cry universe have been heating up steadily, as Far Cry 6 launches October 7th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Google Stadia. In the upcoming AAA game, you will play as a native of the island nation Yara who joins the rebel forces eventually facing off against President Anton Castillo, who is played by Breaking Bad and Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito.
