The Caves & Cliffs update from Minecraft it's one of the biggest updates to the old block builder - so big it's been split in two.
The first part adds 91 new blocks, including powdered snow, collapsible vine platforms, and copper, alongside violent wild animals like goats and axolotls. This is making me want to reinstall Minecraft again for the first time in years.
Here's the launch trailer, which is fun:Read also

I expected to be interested only in the goats and axolotls, honestly, but the stuff on the block is very interesting. Many of the 91 new blocks appear during world generation rather than simply being added as spawnable objects in creative mode, and many of them are fun.
Powder snow, for example, can fall, causing players to get lost in its white expanse and have to dig their way out.
Copper, the new ore, is useful because it can be used to build lightning rods so your house doesn't burn, but it also oxidizes and changes color over time. All the ore in the game has also received a visual overhaul, both to make it more accessible to colorblind players and to simply make it more interesting.
Although, yes, none of the blocks are as cute as the new creatures. Goats will take down players and other creatures, launching them across the map, while axolotls are apparently predators, despite looking like happy marshmallows, and will prey on virtually every other creature.
