Grabbing Power Bombs Tanks is very worthwhile in Metroid dread, unless you love hunting ammo refill stations.

Along Metroid Dread, Samus will collect a ton of skills and upgrades as she explores ZDR, dodges EMMIs, and fights tricky bosses. One of the last and most powerful abilities she gains is the Power Bomb, which destroys almost everything around her.

This ability is incredibly powerful, but also extremely limited. When Samus initially receives this upgrade, she can only store two of these bombs in her ammo. Fortunately, there are energy bomb tanks scattered around the world for her to collect and upgrade this ammo cap.

At her full capacity, Samus can carry fifteen of these energy bombs, so these upgrades are worth picking up – unless you love hunting ammo refill stations. Here is where to find all the energy bomb tanks in ZDR.

artaria

There is a Power Bomb Tank update in Artaria. On the left side of the EMMI zone, find the large open room with blue walls along the right side.

While avoiding the flying enemies, use the Spider Magnet and Grapple Beam skill to climb the blue walls to where the Power Bomb Tank is located in a small alcove at the top of the section. (You can also just use Space Jump to grab this one more easily.)

cataris

There are three energy bomb tanks in Cataris.

Cataris Power Bomb Tank 1

This energy bomb tank is located in a small lava area in northeast Cataris. Use the Grapple Beam to scale the blue walls just below and to the left of where the upgrade is located (or Space Jump up). There will be a set of breakable blocks at the top that can be destroyed with Bolt Attack or by shooting them to reveal a Claw Beam door on the right. Open the door and go right into the small lava area.

Above Samus will be a movable panel with a blue floor; underneath that panel are some rocks.

All these rocks are some sort of breakable block: two bomb blocks and a beam block on top of three missile blocks. Use Samus' Grapple Beam to attach to the blue panel just to the left of the blocks.

Shoot the beam block and crawl into the space it leaves, then use a cross bomb to break the two bomb blocks. Quickly jump down, then back up to grab the blue panel again and bring it to the empty space that was previously occupied by those three blocks. The descent of the panel will still be blocked by the missile blocks.

Shoot the missile blocks hanging from the blue panel to knock them down the rest of the way. Jump to the top of the moving panel and climb up to grab the Power Bomb Tank.

Cataris Power Bomb Tank 2

This energy pump tank is located in a small room in the middle of the Cataris EMMI zone. Enter the EMMI tunnel directly above where it is located on the map.

Use a Power Bomb to break some hidden Power Bomb blocks and tunnel to the room below where the upgrade is located. Using the Power Bomb will reveal the upgrade above a row of Pitfall blocks with an unbreakable block and a Beam block at the far left.

You will now need to use Samus' Speed Booster and Shinespark skills to collect the update. Start from a spot to the left and above where the Power Bomb Tank is located.

Run to the right while charging Samus' Speed Boost, shooting the door on your right to open it as you approach.

In the next room, slide under the low wall while maintaining your Speed Boost.

After swiping, immediately press down to store Samus' Shinespark. It will drop to the lower level on the right.

Quickly drop down and go left until Samus is on top of the Beam block and unbreakable block directly to the left of the Power Bomb Tank. In Morph Ball form, start Samus' Shinespark to send her straight to the Power Bomb Tank upgrade.

Cataris Power Bomb Tank 3

This update is located east of where Samus fought Kraid. Start by returning to the Kraid layer; take the exit hidden under the lava at the bottom left of this room.

Samus will be in a maze of Morph Ball tunnels. Use pulse radar to find the various breakable blocks hidden in this maze. The blocks will either be Bomb Blocks or Pitfall Blocks, but once you know which are which, navigating this maze is easy.

Make your way to the top of the map through the bomb blocks. There will be a Grapple Beam block to the right of Samus. Break it and get the Power Bomb Tank.

Dairon

There are three energy bomb tanks in Dairon.

Dairon Power Bomb Tank 1

This upgrade is located at the top center of the Dairon EMMI area, just below and to the left of the Ferenia elevator. The update will be visible in a small blocked tunnel. Use the pulse radar to locate some breakable blocks hidden at either end of the tunnel.

The breakable blocks are Power Bomb blocks; use a power bomb to break them and claim the upgrade.

Dairon Power Bomb Tank 2

This upgrade is located in the lower right corner of Dairon, just to the left of the elevator to Artaria. On the left side of the elevator room (after a wall of breakable blocks) there will be an open area - it's straight up and there's a blue platform at the top. Use Grapple Beam (or Space Jump) to get Samus to the wall.

Just to the right of Samus will be two hidden breakable missile blocks, with the Power Bomb Tank in a tunnel behind them. Break the blocks with missiles and get the upgrade.

Dairon Power Bomb Tank 3

This update is located in the middle of the map, in the only non-EMMI area surrounded by EMMI zones. To get to this room, you'll need to open a tricky storm door. Jump while aiming your missiles to hit the target at the end of the Morph Ball Tunnel.

Continue through the open storm door on the right, into a new room with a pool of water at the bottom. Stand on the ledge above the pool; this boss is made up of many different types of breakable blocks. You can reveal them by shooting them with Samus' missiles.

Use a Cross Bomb to break the Bomb blocks, then quickly use the Grapple Beam to destroy the Grapple Beam block before the Bomb blocks respawn.

Use another Cross Bomb to break the Bomb blocks that will already have respawned, then use another Cross Bomb on the unbreakable part of the ledge. Position Samus to the right of this last bomb and when it explodes it will send Samus through the Pitfall blocks to the right. Use one last bomb to break the last bomb block, preventing Samus from going up in the far right room where she can collect the Power Bomb Tank.

Burenia

There is an energy bomb tank in Burenia. It is located at the bottom of the map, below the water. Just to the left of where this update is located on the map, you'll find a Power Bomb block that prevents Samus from entering the location where the update was found.

Use a Power Bomb to reveal a tunnel for the upgrade, blocked by Speed Booster blocks. You will need to use your Shinespark skill to break them.

Start at the screen to the left of this tunnel. Run to the right while charging your Speed Booster skill.

On the right edge of the screen, swipe to enter the tunnel while maintaining your Speed Boost.

Once Samus enters the next screen, immediately press down to deposit your Shinespark.

Drop down and go right into the tunnel with the Speed Booster blocks. Press B while in Morph Ball form to use Shinespark and send Samus to the right, destroying the blocks and acquiring the Power Bomb Tank.

Ghavoran

There is an energy bomb tank in Ghavoran, in the top middle of the map. This one is exceptionally easy to obtain after purchasing Space Jump. Simply jump across the open area to where the update is open. There is no other way to acquire this one.

Elun

There is a Power Bomb Tank in Elun, located in the Morph Ball Tunnel Maze on the east side of this section. It must be approached from above. Starting at the entrance to the Morph Ball labyrinth, just to the left and above where you fought a Chozo soldier, head east as far as you can and then south through the tunnels, using bombs to destroy the bomb blocks along the way. out of the way.

There aren't many chances to get lost in this maze. The Power Bomb Tank will be in the open after you navigate this area.

Ferenia

Ferenia contains two Power Bomb Tank upgrades.

Ferenia Power Bomb Tank 1

This update is blocked by some hidden breakable blocks. At the location where it is marked on the map, use Samus' pulse radar to find a line of three breakable blocks.

These breakable blocks are Power Bomb blocks. Use a power bomb to destroy the three blocks, revealing the upgrade.

Ferenia Power Bomb Tank 2

This update is located in the EMMI area in Ferenia. It is visible in a small locked room. In the area below where this update is marked on the map, you can use Samus' pulse radar to see some breakable blocks just below the energy bomb tank.

Shooting them with missiles will reveal that they are Power Bomb blocks.

Fire a Power Bomb and Space Jump to get the upgrade.

Hanubia

Hanubia contains an energy bomb tank, located in the middle of the map. It's surrounded by bomb blocks and speed booster blocks, which means you'll need to use Samus's Shinespark skill to get this upgrade, and this puzzle is a doozy. Start at a point just below and to the left of where the Power Bomb Tank is marked on the map.

To Samus' left there should be two doors one on top of the other. You can shoot across the floor to open the highest door.

Simultaneously shoot the highest door (through the floor) to open it, while pressing the left joycon and running left to start charging Samus' Speed Booster.

Shoot the bottom door to open it as you run, still charging your Speed Booster.

As soon as you can enter the next room (the Save room), press down to deposit your Shinespark.

Immediately exit through the door in the upper right corner before it closes.

Keep running to the right until Samus is above the Bomb blocks. Go into Morph Ball mode and drop a Bomb or Crossbomb, then immediately (almost simultaneously) press and hold B and down to start Shinespark. Once the bomb explodes and destroys the blocks, release B to destroy the Speed Booster blocks.

Samus will drop into a new area with the Power Bomb Tank just to her right. This one is super tricky to get the time right!
