The executives of Riot Games finally confirmed that the popular sports sports scene MOBA, League of Legends: Wild Rift will arrive in late 2021. The announcement was made by John Needham, global head of esports at Riot Games, who added that the tournament will be global.
To begin the selection process for the global tournament, Needham said he will select the best regional teams to participate. In addition, there will be a set of selection criteria and teams that fit that set can proceed.
Regional teams have already sprung into action as the game hosted its first regional championship tournament in Southeast Asia, the SEA Icon Series. This five week competition invited players from Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, with a total of 54 professional teams.
By conducting these events in different regions, Riot plans to bring together pro players from all over, as this gives each region a chance to showcase their skills and talents and also helps them increase their reach.Read also
