Discord is popular for text, voice and video chats. It also offers Stage Channels to host audio-only chat sessions on a Discord server. See how you can set one up.
You'll feel right at home with Stage channels if you're familiar with audio-based social networks like Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces. In addition to hosting a group music party, you can set up an audio-only Stage event to bring together people who want to talk and hear a certain topic.
Stage Channels are only available on Community servers, so if you've already created a regular Discord server with your friends, you'll need to change it to a Community server.
How to Create a Community Server Internship Channel on Discord
Since a Stage Channel maintains an audio-only stream, you will need to configure your microphone and headset with the Discord before starting.
To make a Stage channel, open the Discord app or website and go to the community server. First, you'll need to enable the Manage Roles and Manage Channels options. So, click on the community server name in the upper left corner and select “Server Settings” from the drop-down menu.
Select “Roles” on the left column and choose “Default Permissions” on the right side.
Then select the “Moderator” option or whatever role name you have assigned to moderators on your community server. Select the “Permissions” tab on the right side.
Note: If you choose the “@everyone” option, this will allow all members on your server to create, edit or even delete channels and roles.
Enable the “Manage Channels” and “Manage Functions” button as they are disabled by default. Then select the “Save Changes” button and press Esc to exit the “Server Settings”.
Now, click or tap on your server name and select “Create channel” from the drop-down menu.
This opens the menu to create a new text, voice, ad or stage channel. Select the “Stage Channel” option, enter the channel name in the text box in the “Channel Name” section and select the “Next” button.
After that, you will see the “Add stage moderator” screen to allow you to add people as stage moderators to manage and conduct a stage event. You can choose “Roles” (server moderators) or server members. Stage moderators can manage speakers and even start a new Stage event. When finished, select the “Create Channel” button.Read also

The stage channel name will appear above the text channel list.
Then click or tap on the new stage channel in the left column and select “Start stage”.
Click or tap “Ok!” button on the welcome screen to continue.
Enter a topic and choose Stage privacy, “Members Only” or “Public”.
If you are participating in the Stage event for the first time, choose “Members Only” before opening it to everyone.
Your Stage event will be visible in the Stage Channel you created.
You can always change the Stage event privacy setting from “Members Only” to “Public” later. Choosing the “Public” privacy option will list your Stage event in the Stage Discovery section to make it open to all Discord users. Additionally, your Discord contacts can see the Stage event on their profile and can tune in or join the event while Stage is live.
To open the Stage event for everyone, select the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
Select the “Public” setting in the Privacy section to switch to a Public Stage event and select the “Continue” button.
A window will pop up to remind you what it means to make the Stage event public. If you are ok with that, select the “Start Stage” button to continue.
That's it. After that, you can create custom invite links to share on social networks, messengers and websites so people can join the Stage event and eventually join your Discord server.
