While Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy can feel like a solo game at times, squad orders help to involve the entire team in combat.

While players can only control Star-Lord in  Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy , there is still use in the fact that the group travels together. Each character brings their own special powers and abilities to the table, and this diversification can make the game more interesting and easier.

Fortunately, there is a system in the game that allows players to leverage heroes that are not being controlled. This makes each Guardian's special abilities able to play a role in any alien battle, even if they are not directly controlled by the player.

Since Guardians aren't that useful outside of these skills, this is a very useful trick.

Squad orders work as a way to use the special abilities of other Guardians in and out of battle.

Squad orders can turn the tide in a tough Marvel GotG boss fight or simply unlock a special interaction to help Guardians progress through the game. Issuing these orders is very simple and vital to getting the full GotG experience.

To issue squad orders in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, simply press the L1/LB button to enter the menu and select a Guardian using the corresponding button.

Once a Guardian is selected, choose an ability for them to use, and that ability will target whoever Star-Lord is. These orders will make the other Guardians much more useful, as Marvel's GotG can feel like a solo game most of the time.

Without them, the other Guardians often feel more like scenery than useful teammates.

Outside of combat, certain choices and interactions can only be made by a specific Guardian. This will be indicated by an object with a faint, pulsating outline.

To complete these interactions, open the Guardians menu in the same way as in combat and select the appropriate character. It's pretty much the same process as in combat, but there's no need to select a skill, as the interaction itself dictates what the Guardian will have to do.

Consistently giving orders to Star-Lord's teammates will help players progress through Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy with ease and allow for more tactical combat. Knowing each character's best special abilities and using them makes the game feel much more like a team sport.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy  is available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S .
