As simple as it sounds on the surface, Rage 2 can get pretty rigid and bury some of its secrets in the crevices of its open world.
Find in this guide the six tips to decipher them and win the game.
When driving from place to place, always set a waypoint and use the purple breadcrumb lines! There were several times I drove around trying to take a shortcut and ended up falling into a pothole, demanding that I turn back. There are many bridges in the dark world of Rager 2, so using the purple lines will help you navigate them.
Don't wait to open the mystery box
In 90% of games, breaking open chests is next to useless, but that's not the case with Rager 2.
At each given location on the map (there is a side quest or an area of interest) are chests (important rewards such as skill-boosting upgrade items) or storage containers. The latter are extremely common and contain huge caches of cash (which you can use to buy almost anything in the game) or Feltrite (crystal upgrades).
Every storage container matters. Just one location can generate an entire update in most cases. Don't leave it until you find them and have them checked in the HUD list!
An item is an item, no matter how small.
Whether during boss fights or after the carnage, clear the entire arena for ammo. You often need to continue the fight or go back to a hub location and buy more ammo, so picking up all the grenades you can will help you in future missions.

Look for purple points of interest everywhere (usually cabinets) and clean each bullet.
Go prepared for battle
Get used to using the two-pistol swap mechanism to your advantage. You often run out of ammo early in the game with a lot of weapons, so make sure your quick-swap slot (Triangle/Y) is always something fully loaded. Hold Y, select your full primary, then hold Y again and select another wide weapon.
Pressing Y will switch between the new designated pieces of equipment. Do the same with your released consumables: you don't want to hotswap during a big fight.
See how fast travel works
Fast travel can be a little confusing. When the game starts you can only fast travel between the three main hubs and only if you are close to your vehicle. Select your map hub and press Square X.
Sounds simple, but it can be tricky if you're not near your vehicle or are at a mission location, even after the mission is complete. If all else fails, get in your car and drive a bit, and try fast travel.
You can fix your car for free
Your starting car is very similar to the Batmobile. He talks to you, has a machine gun, and is nearly invincible. If your vehicle's shields are depleted, it will not "explode", it will just become non-operational. To get it fixed again, you'll need to get out of the driver's seat, go forward (basically the engine) and hold L1/LB to refill your gauge.
Once that's done, you're ready to go back. Just note that during a fight it's hard to focus on repairs, so clear out enemies first.
