HoYverse has introduced a major change to Genshin Impact events with the Three Kingdoms Gateway Offer. The review has fans begging the developer to keep the changes in future updates.
To start the Genshin Impact version 2.5 update, the todayverse launched the Three Realms Gateway Offering event on February 17.
While on the surface it looks like any other celebration in the game, the Enkanomiya storyline has really introduced a big change in the way the gacha game handles events and fans are loving it.

Genshin Impact players love the big change made in the Update 2.5 event.
HoYverse makes a big change with the Genshin Impact 2.5 event
Since the debut of the first event in 2020, the vast majority of events in Genshin impact was spaced out over several days. Often referred to as “time-gating”, players would have to come back at a later date to complete blocked content.
The design has often been a big fan complaint. However, that all changed with the Three Realms Gateway Offering event in the Genshin Impact version 2.5 update. In addition to not having time-blocked content, users can technically complete a month's celebration in one go.

YouTuber 'Undiscovery Ch' noticed this big change and made a video highlighting the difference from previous event-based content. Players immediately reacted to the changes with praise.

“The fact that the event is not timed is what made me finish the Enkanomiya questline. It allowed me to do it at my own pace rather than feeling rushed.”
Another agreed and said, "The event not being timed had me playing Genshin Impact for hours making meaningful content, it was fun as hell."
Other fans pointed out that the changes to the event allowed them to be more flexible with their own schedules. "I love this. I have exams coming up so I'm happy to be able to make the event in a few days and not miss it,” read one comment.

It should be noted that HoYverse called the Portal of the Three Realms Offering “exploration quests”, so it is possible that the new changes will only apply to future events of a similar design. This also makes sense given how massive Enkanomiya is compared to previous stories.
Still, many players praised the overhaul of the event and begged the Chinese developer to ditch time-gating for more in-game celebrations. Only time will tell if the community will fulfill its wish.
