You don't need us to say that mobile gaming, and as a result mobile sports, is huge right now. In regions such as Southeast Asia or Latin America, mobile esports has quickly overtaken esports to PC ou consul in terms of visualization, and one of the leading games around the world is Garena Free Fire.

Battle Royale has become such a phenomenon in these markets that its most recent World Series event in Singapore, which saw the Thai team Phoenix force win a prize from $ 500.000, broke an esports viewership record.

Until last weekend, the World Championship of League of Legends 2019 held the title of the most watched esports event of all time, after just under 4 million people tuned in to watch the semifinal between G2 Esports and T1 (then SK Telecom T1). However, the 2021 Free Fire World Series Singapore broke that record with a peak audience of 5.414.953 tuned in to watch, according to Esports Charts.

The tournament was being broadcast in 18 different languages, and it was a Portuguese stream that had the biggest audience, proving how big a game like Free Fire is in countries like Spain.

The fact that Free Fire can attract a larger audience than arguably the most popular competitive game in the world, which has been around for over a decade, is testament to just how big mobile esports is getting.

Despite having a race time of just nine hours over three days, and teams from Bangladesh, Pakistan and India not even being able to attend the offline event in Singapore, the Free Fire World Series de 2021 will be a milestone in the history of mobile esports.
