Destiny 2: How to Reach Power Level 1320 Quickly

Season of the Splicer increased the power cap to 1320. This is the fastest way to reach this new cap.

Each new season in Destiny 2 increases the Power level cap by a certain amount. Most seasons will increase the Power cap by 50, but seasons linked to expansions will increase this cap by 200. The Season of Splicer is unique in that it only increased the Power level cap by 10.

In essence, you can spend less time completing weekly challenges and more time cultivating content you love. With that said, players who skipped a season or two will still have to catch up.

We'll look at how Power level works, the Power boost you can expect from each activity, and some strategies you can use to level up your main and alternate characters quickly.

Updated May 11, 2021 by Charles Burgar:  Breaking the power-up cycle a bit, Season of the Splicer it only increased the power cap by 10 instead of 50. This made leveling significantly faster for most players, especially veteran players of Destiny. Even better, there are new ways to get Powerful Gear! We've added these new Powerful Gear sources to our leveling guide.

If you are an experienced Destiny 2 player, you can skip this section.

Power level determines two important things in Destiny 2:

  • How much damage do you do
  • How much damage can you take

The higher your level, the greater the two bonuses. If your Power level is lower than the activity's recommended level, you will receive substantially more damage from enemies and deal less damage to combatants.

To increase your power level, you must get new weapons and armor with a higher power level rating. All non-sunset items you obtain will increase your Power level until you reach the “soft limit“. This limit changes every season. For Season of the Splicer, the soft cap is 1.310 Power.

Once you hit the soft cap, you'll need to earn Powerful Gear rewards in weekly activities and milestones to get higher-tier gear. Your Director will list all activities that award Powerful Equipment. We will list all these activities later in the guide.

If you reach a Power level of 1.310, you've reached the maximum cap for your character's level. While this seems counterintuitive, this is not the real limit; you can further increase your Power by getting Pinnacle Gear of the most demanding content Destiny 2 ( rAIDS , Trials of Osiris, etc.). This is called the “max limit” and is currently set to 1.320.

The only way to increase your Power level beyond 1.320 is to level up your Seasonal Artifact. Artifact leveling happens passively as you gain XP in the Destiny 2 .

The Splicer station power level bands are as follows:

  • Soft Cap:  1.260
  • Hard Cap:  1.310
  • Pinnacle Cap:  1.320

soft cap

The soft cap can be achieved by obtaining any gear other than for the sunset. That includes:

  • Rare
  • Legendaries (non-twilight)
  • Exotic

Getting packages from vendors is a reliable way to hit the soft cap in a short period of time.

Hard cap

Powerful gear rewards from activities are the main method of reaching Hard Cap. Prime Engrams can also help you reach that limit.

Pinnacle Cap

Pinnacle gear rewards are the only way to increase your gear power to over 1.310.

Complete the challenges of Pinnacle Gear whenever your items have a similar power level. This will grant a big boost to a slot, causing the rewards of the Powerful Gear “match” your other slots. Make sure to complete the rewards as you complete the weeklies, as the XP they provide can greatly speed up your artifact's progression. The more XP you earn, the more power level you will receive.

If you have more than one character, it's best to level the character you play/like the least. When you're done leveling them, transfer your weapons to the second character. Level up that character, transfer your weapons once more to the main character, then complete all the weekly milestones. This will almost guarantee that you hit the cap in the first week of a given season.

Finally, if you want to rush into the hard cap as quickly as possible, give the Glory Crucible playlist a try. If you win most of your games, almost every match will give you a subdivision or division rank, granting Powerful Gear as a reward. A few hours of Competitive Crucible is enough to gain nearly a dozen Powers.

Before getting any Powerful Gear, make sure you hit the 1.250 soft cap first. If not, play any activity you like until you get Rares at 1.250. It shouldn't take more than a few hours to get to the soft cover.

To level up quickly, you want to get rewards from Powerful Gear that offer the biggest Power level jump. If you haven't played the season yet, completing one or two Pinnacle Gear sources is not a bad idea, as they will give you a +6 item. Battlegrounds is also a good place to get equipment with a high power level.

From there, you'll want to complete weeklies that grant minor energy level boosts. These items will almost always drop into your other gear slots and "balance" the energy level distribution on your gear. When getting a +3 item becomes less impactful, complete another challenge that grants a massive boost.

The leveling process should look like this:

  • Claim a Pinnacle Equipment reward.
  • Complete three or four Powerful Gear weeklies.
  • Claim a Pinnacle Equipment reward.
  • Complete three to four Powerful Gear weeklies.
  • Claim a Pinnacle Equipment reward.
  • Complete three or four Powerful Gear weeklies.
  • Play the Deep Stone Crypt attack.
  • Play the Glory-enabled Crucible to balance your gear.

You can complete any content you like for rewards Pinnacle e Powerful, but you must complete them in that order. Complete the raid when most of your Power Equipment sources are used up, then level up your Crucible Glory to quickly balance your gear. If you do it right, you can max out a week or two in a season.

Reaching 1.320 power will reduce RNG. If you're lucky enough to get items in the slots you need, you can hit the Pinnacle cap three weeks in a season.

For Season of the Splicer, there is no specific order you need to fill these weeklies. That said, we have a few suggestions:

  • Balance your equipment:  when you increase your Power level by one, complete the Powerful Gear weekly to balance your gear, reducing the number of Pinnacle Gear rewards you need to raise your Power level again.
  • Play the raid every week:  The Deep Stone Crypt dá  four  Pinnacle Gear items every week. It's easily the best way to get Pinnacle Gear in Destiny 2 these days, other than Iron Banner.
  • Claim the Hawthorne Engram last:  His engram is only +1 Pinnacle Gear drop, not +2 most drops are. Claim it when the rest of your Pinnacle sources run out.
