Complete these past challenges to upgrade your Trial Hammer.

The Season of the Chosen Destiny 2 marked the second season of Year 4, allowing Guardians to fight hundreds of Cabals in a new activity called Battlegrounds.

Using Hammer of Proving, players can break Cabal chests at the end of each battleground match to get some awesome gear.

The main source for updating your Trial Hammer is the War Table Reputation, a currency you can only obtain by completing older Seasonal Challenges.

If you missed Season of the Chosen but want to get this season's offerings, you'll want to complete all 18 of these challenges.

Note:  We will only be covering how to complete each challenge. If you're interested in which updates to get first, check out our Evidence Enhancement Hammer guide.

WHAT ARE SEASONAL CHALLENGES?

Source: Destiny 2

Seasonal Challenges are your main source of XP and Shiny Dust in Destiny 2. Some challenges are also related to seasonal progression, such as the Trial Hammer of the Season of the Chosen.

When a season ends, all Seasonal Challenges linked to that season's progression remain in-game under the "Past Challenges" tab in the Seasonal Challenges menu.

In the case of Season of the Chosen, there are 18 previous challenges that must be completed to unlock upgrades in your Hammer of Proving. None of these challenges grant XP or Shiny Dust, but some grant lore inputs and seasonal weapons.

Golden Reaper

Source: Destiny 2

Golden Reaper:  Acquire Cabal Gold by playing Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, Public Events and more.

Bounty (Golden Reaper I-IV)

  • Reputation at the war table (average)

Recompensa (Golden Reaper V)

  • Reputation on the war table (large)

Cabal Gold is the seasonal currency linked to Battlegrounds, the main activity of the Season of the Chosen. This coin is needed to craft medallions for the Trial Hammer, allowing you to crush chests at the end of a Battleground match.

You can earn Cabal Gold from virtually every activity in Destiny 2. The top three playlists to earn Cabal Gold are Vanguard Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit. Whichever playlist you find the most fun is the one you'll want to grind.

Note: You cannot earn Cabal Gold if your Cabal Gold reserves are full. Make sure you do some battlefield matches to keep your gold reserves light.

You will need to earn the following Cabal Gold to complete each Golden Reaper challenge:

  • Golden Reaper I:  100 Cabal Gold
  • Golden Reaper II: 200 Cabal Gold
  • Golden Reaper III: 300 Cabal Gold
  • Golden Reaper IV: 400 Cabal Gold
  • Golden Reaper V:  500 Cabal Gold

CABAL CONTENDERS

Source: Destiny 2

Cabal contenders:  Defeat Elite or Boss Cabal anywhere in Battleground Quests.

Reward

  • Reputation on the war table (large)

In the Battlegrounds playlist, you will need to defeat 65 Elite or Boss Cabal to finish this challenge. Both battlegrounds in Nessus, Behemoth and Oracle, are only against Cabal, making them the most efficient.

Elite and Boss Cabal refer to enemies with an orange or yellow health bar, more commonly referred to as majors and bosses. The battleground playlist is full of these types of enemies, so completing this challenge shouldn't take long. Make sure you damage every Cabal you see to make progress.

EXPLOSIVE ENTRY

Source: Destiny 2

Explosive Entry:  Defeat Champions and get grenades on battlefields.

Reward

  • Reputation at the war table (average)

Landing 45 grenade drops and defeating 10 champions will end this challenge. Both objectives must be completed in the battleground playlist, as the playlist is the only way to make champions appear. Each quest has about two champions, so this will take a few games to complete. Focus on the grenade objective first, then shift your attention to champion eliminations when you're done.

PROVING GROUNDS TRIFECTA

Source: Destiny 2

Proving Grounds Trifecta:  Complete the following in the Proving Grounds raid: complete the mission, defeat the combatants and deposit a Power Core in the Ground Tank chassis.

Reward

  • Reputation on the war table (large)

Proving Grounds Trifecta requires you to complete three things during the Proving Grounds raid:

  1. Clear the strike 3 times.
  2. Defeat 150 combatants.
  3. Deposit 2 energy cores.

Power cores can be found mid-strike, right after clearing the vehicle compartment section. While at the bottom of the tank, you'll need to pick up two power cores and deposit them into a generator to proceed. The first is right when you reach the bottom, and the second is directly in front of the first core. Since you need to clear this move three times, remember to track at least one Power Core during the first two runs.

CRASH AND CONVERGE

Source: Destiny 2

Crash and Converge:  Break Tribute Chests and focus on Season of the Chosen Engrams using Charges of the Trial Hammer.

Reward (Crash and Converge I-III)

  • Reputation at the war table (average)

Similar to Golden Reaper, Crash and Converge has three different versions with different challenge requirements. You will need to do the following:

  • Crash and Converge I:  Break 5 Tribute Chests and focus 5 Umbral Engrams.
  • Crash and Converge II: Destroy 10 Tribute Chests and focus on 10 Umbral Engrams.
  • Crash and Converge III: Break 15 Tribute Chests and focus 1 Level 3 Umbral Engram.

You must use a focus option that costs Hammer Charges to progress . Tribute chests are those you find at the end of a battlefield match that require a medallion to open. Stick to the Battlegrounds playlist to complete all three Crash and Converge challenges.
