When it comes to building cleanup and urban skirmishes, nothing compares to an SMG in Warzone

When it comes to choosing the best SMG in Warzone, there are so many candidates to choose from since Cold War weapons came to the Battle Royale game. Warzone Season 5 Reloaded introduced a number of small tweaks to SMGs, but nothing significant enough to take them out of the meta.

For a long time in Warzone, SMGs were not very popular, as most players preferred Assault Rifles and Warzone's best weapons such as the AMAX .

While the changes introduced in Season 4 Reloaded primarily affect assault rifles, the balance changes also target SMGs, reducing their damage output. These changes hit all popular SMGs, including the AK-74u, Bullfrog, and even the Milano 821.

Here is the best SMG in Warzone:

    • Mac-10
    • LC10
    • Tech-9
    • PPSh-41
    • TOs 9
    • bullfrog
    • Cold War MP5
    • Modern Warfare MP5
    • Milan 821
    • Nail pistol
    • AGO
    • Bizon
    • MP7
    • Fennec
    • P90
    • Uzi
    • Forward 45
    • AK74u

The Mac-10 is a lethal weapon thanks to its high rate of fire along with controllable recoil. With the right accessories, you can put on a big magazine that will ensure you have enough bullets to take down multiple enemies at any given time.

Despite going through several nerfs since the weapon made its Warzone debut, the Mac-10 is undeniably one of the best SMGs in the game. Take a look at our best Mac-10 download to find out how to customize this mighty SMG.

The LC10 was added to the game with the Season 2 Reloaded update, but the SMG struggled against some of the game's meta weapons.

Fast forward to Warzone Season 4 and LC10 has become a long-range meta staple. The LC10 has established itself as the best short-range option for anyone with a sniper rifle in their load.

Season 5's new SMG surprised the community with its versatility. Unlike the rest of the SMGs on this list, the Tec-9 requires the Full Auto Repeater accessory to transform into a regular SMG.

Despite taking a small amount of nerf damage right after Warzone Season 5 Reloaded, it's still one of the best SMGs in Warzone. Give our Tec-9 gear a read to see how you should assemble this deadly close-range weapon.

If you're looking for mobility and damage, the PPSh is a great choice as a mobile secondary weapon. The Warzone Season 5 Reloaded update treated this weapon to a small buff, adjusting the weapon kick and sight balance to make it easier to reliably line up shots. Will this be enough to finally introduce PPSh into the meta? That is yet to be seen.

    OTS 9

Just a week after receiving a damage nerf in Warzone Season 5, the best loadout of OTs 9 was subjected to a second damage nerf.

The biggest selling point of the OTs 9 has to be the extremely low recoil, making it easy for accurate players to score multiple headshots in seconds. This weapon isn't perfect, as you have to deal with full magazines of only 40 rounds, a far cry from the Bullfrog's 65-round magazines.

If you want a weapon with nearly as many bullets as an LMG, you won't find anything better than the Bullfrog. An update shortly after the Warzone Season 5 Reloaded patch overturned Bullfrog's aim of aim mobility to bring it in line with the rest of the SMGs on this list.

Most SMGs suffer the same problem after killing an enemy, no matter how accurate you are, you will likely have to reload your weapon.

Compared to the Modern Warfare MP5, the Cold War MP5 slightly outperforms its predecessor, improving a number of important details. TTK is higher, as is ADS speed, and recoil is easier to control.

Again, there's not a huge difference between the two weapons, but if you want the competitive edge, the CW MP5 is the obvious choice. Be sure to check out our best MP5 setup to find the right attachments for both weapons.

The MP5 has a higher kill time when compared to the MP7, but it's a little short because it's harder to hit the shots and you can only upgrade it to a max capacity of 40 shots.

The 10mm conversion kit doesn't increase your TTK on paper, but it does extend your effective range considerably. We've got the best MP5 setup if you're looking for the best accessories. If you're confident in your ability to win firefights, you should always consider it your Warzone SMG.

    MILAN 821

Don't be fooled by the miniature size of this weapon, this SMG is dangerous at both close and long range. This is one of the few SMGs in the game that you can use an Axial Arms 3x scope without having to deal with obscene amounts of recoil.

The Nail Gun was introduced at the start of Warzone Season 4 and immediately shot to the top of the list as the best SMG in Warzone. Unsurprisingly, the weapon's effective damage range has been nerfed to make it worse at range. The nail gun is still worth using at close range, although you will have to use it as a shotgun.

This comes with the important caveat that the AUG is only worth running if you can equip it with the 60-round NATO 5.56 conversion magazine, although we've recently had a lot of success with this more mobile AUG warzone setup.

It's usually well below average, but with 60 of those most dangerous shots in a single magazine, the AUG becomes one of the best SMGs in the world. Warzone, despite the fact that it's basically an assault rifle. It's easy to control, goes down fast, and has enough ammo to theoretically take out an entire team without needing to reload.

This SMG is tragically overlooked in Warzone and multiplayer. Like the Bizon, it has a high-capacity magazine by default, but interestingly, you can extend the range and improve the P90's accuracy dramatically. The P90's basic iron sights are also crisp and clean, ensuring you never have to spend a mount slot on an optic.

The MP7 is actually worse than the MP5 on paper, but when you factor in its potential upgrades of mag size, near-non-existent recoil, and excellent hip-firing accuracy, you have one of the best short-range weapons in the game.

Sure, he doesn't have the best DPS for a Warzone SMG, but he fires bullets at an eye-watering rate and can equip a 60-round magazine, in Warzone that means you can go into fights with confidence and put a lot of pressure on your opponent.

If you want the ultimate build, check out our best MP7 setup for a plan to rip. It's also much, much easier to use than MP5.

Fennec has the fastest rate of fire of any SMG in Warzone, making it a very strong weapon for clearing buildings and 1v1 battles.

Its theoretical time to kill is only matched by the MP5, but due to the Fennec's low recoil and high rate of fire, you'll find that converting to that TTK is easier. Aim for the center of mass and enemies will be down in no time.

The maximum mag size of 40 shots will seem limiting at first, but this SMG is so efficient at dealing with close targets that you'll often be able to take down two enemies and flee for a safe reload before anyone knows what happened.

One thing to note: the Fennec's bullet speed and damage range are atrocious, so make sure you have the best Warzone Assault Rifle for mid-range battles.

Anyone who's ever used this in multiplayer should be aware of its issues: low fire speed, average damage per shot, and some bizarre recoil patterns.

However, with a specific conversion kit, this becomes a surprisingly effective SMG, especially between short and mid-range. Highly skilled Warzone players could justify putting this in their top five SMGs, but because it's so cumbersome to use, we've put it closer to the bottom of the stack.

The high-capacity starter magazine seems to be the biggest advantage, but it's actually the almost non-existent recoil that makes this SMG so good. The Bizon compensates for its below-average damage with accuracy and consistency – you'll have no problem landing the shots, although it may take a little longer than you'd like to protect the takedown.

Unfortunately, the UMP's return to Modern Warfare is not a triumphant one. It's outclassed in pretty much every area, though it's reasonably easy to control and is one of the best mid-range options.

Introduced in the Cold War, this SMG can be highly effective in multiplayer, but the same cannot be said for Warzone.

Players in battle royale mode can stack armor plates to double their health, making the AK74u ineffective compared to its rivals in the same bracket. Unlike the other weapons on this list, the AK74u's rate of fire is slower, which dramatically increases TTK.
